Working Hard, Or Hardly Working?

With the industry slowly starting to get back up to speed, it’s becoming a new balancing act between demands for maximum productivity (to make up for the lockdown slowdown) and demands for proper safety and social distance procedures.

Safety guidelines are changing on a near-daily basis nowadays, and there’s always new rules about how close you can get to each other, how long you can work in proximity, and how to stay safe while still getting the work done. The health of our workers is the most important thing, and it’s a new challenge to figure out how to minimise the risk to personnel without losing sight of the practical necessities of the job.

We’re seeing ideas like extended hours to make up for lower productivity, social distancing trackers for workers, site partitions to create individual spaces and more – it feels like new methods are coming in every day!

KNOW-HOW

Given that, it’s more important than ever to have staff on site who know what they’re doing. When you’re spending more and more time holding staggered safety briefings to keep everyone on top of the latest policies, you need to be able to rely on your workers to do their jobs quickly, efficiently and to the highest standards.

This goes double now that more and more of the off-site work is being done digitally rather than face-to-face. When you’re detailing project requirements over phone and email rather than in an actual conversation, it’s vital that everyone involved has the right grounding to understand what, how and why.

PROBLEM SOLVING IN ADVANCE

That why Custodian People pride ourselves on being a specialist recruiter. We make sure that we work with skilled, veteran operatives – people who’ve put time in doing exactly the jobs our clients need doing, just like we have. When your operatives are old-hat, you’re free to focus on managing everything else about your site!
